About EISAP

Who we are

The voice of international shipowners under the Portuguese flag since 2016.

The European International Shipowners’ Association of Portugal (EISAP) represents the majority of owners of ships sailing under the Portuguese flag. It is a private association, founded in 2016.

EISAP is headquartered in Funchal, the capital of the Madeira region. This ensures proximity to the International Business Centre of Madeira (IBC), which includes the International Shipping Register of Madeira (MAR). EISAP also maintains an office in Lisbon, providing closer and more direct business connections with its associates.

Objectives

EISAP’s objective is to represent the interests of Portuguese and international shipowners with vessels registered under MAR. Its mission is to contribute to the promotion, development, and harmonisation of MAR, in close collaboration with the International Business Centre of Madeira (IBC), the Regional Government of Madeira, and other relevant stakeholders.

EISAP also aims to strengthen Portugal’s maritime sector by supporting job creation for young Portuguese and European students in the maritime industry, both at sea and ashore. Furthermore, EISAP seeks to foster the development of a robust maritime cluster in Portugal, to collaborate with professional and academic partners, to coordinate research and business relations on legal and industry matters, to keep its members informed about the maritime sector, and to cooperate with like-minded international associations.
